Agency Description

Domestic Violence Project, Inc., a private, non-profit organization established in 1978, provides safe shelter, legal advocacy, counseling, prevention and educational services for victims, their children and the community.  Programming is provided at the Canton Family Services Center, Western Stark Emergency Housing, on-site at both the Canton and Massillon Municipal Courts, through substance abuse prevention programs at area middle schools, and through high school violence prevention programs at over 10 locations in Stark County, Ohio.  All services are offered regardless of ability to pay and in an atmosphere of respect, dignity, cultural sensitivity and confidentiality.

Domestic Violence Project, Inc. enjoys a highly regarded professional standing for excellence in client services and collaboration within the community. The agency goes to great lengths to ensure  quality service through consistent supervision, professional peer review, client evaluations, community satisfaction surveys and active leadership in local and state consortiums. The agency participates in an annual independent audit and consistently exceeds stringent requirements of multiple funding sources and review bodies through sound management, fiscal and record keeping practices.

 

 

Mission Statement:

Domestic Violence Project, Inc. provides emergency and supportive services, including drug and alcohol treatment, to victims of domestic violence and promotes increased public awareness of domestic violence issues.

 

Vision:

We will not rest until...

·         Every person in Stark County is free from abuse;

·         We use across the County a common message with common terminology about interpersonal violence;

·         Domestic Violence Project has stable and adequate funding;

·         We have in place a complete and effective violence education/prevention/awareness campaign for Stark County students grades pre-K through 12;

·         Aftercare services, including transitional housing and recovery services, are continued for six months to a year.
